Adiyogi and Nani Dose

A half a day outing to visit the great Adiyogi and breakfast at Nani hotel | The Crew: Prashanth,Pallavi, Kaushik, Prathiksha.

Background: Just after our first ride of 2023 we decided that we will visit Mandaragiri Hills and agreed to go there on the last weekend of January. But wait things don't go as per plan, the day before the ride I get a text from KK with a completely different plan since the newly wed got an invite for a royal stay at his granparents place. So Tumkur road got shifted to Airport road.

Nani Hotel: Just a small hotel in Vijaypura town which serves excellent dose |  7RX3+F3 Gandi Chouka, Vijayapura Town, Karnataka  

The Day: The nicest aspect of leaving early is that we get to experience the deserted city streets and typical Bengaluru weather. As per usual, we left home at approximately 6:45AM because it would take us around 45 minutes to arrive to the meeting place. KP met us 5-10mins after we reached the meeting point and we started after a quick chat.

We were cruising at triple digits on the big highway in no time. We left the motorway and went into the town to have breakfast via the vijaypura road. Being stranded at home and becoming accustomed to the misery of city traffic helps you truly appreciate the beauty of state highways. The views were excellent, with nothing but greenery on each side of the road and nearly no pollution.

There are some speed breakers on the road so be very mindful about the speeds you do and ensure you have complete control on the vehicle. 

Thankfully, there wasn't a huge crowd when we arrived at the hotel. We quickly ordered our idlis and doses and received them within no time. 

The food was really yum and no wonder that a place in such small town has 4.2 rating on google maps. 

The first 10–12 kilometres were on some back roads before arriving at the next stop, which was roughly 30 kilometres from the Nani Hotel. Since it was a one-lane road with villages in between, we drove at safe speeds until we got to the motorway. 

The roads are wonderful, and there are some really magnificent quarries by the roadside that look really fantastic. In the next 30 to 40 minutes, we arrived at the Isha centre, which is located in Chikkaballapura. The last 3KM were still being built when we came, and given the volume of traffic, the dust was horrible.

Keeping the last 3KM aside we reached the location without any issues. Parking for bikes was free and I don't think the parking was charged for cars too. So nice :) 

The 112 foot Adiyogi monument, which was soon visible to us despite a little building dust on it looked spectacular.

Five nagas are placed up underneath the adiyogi statue, and visitors are welcome to offer prayers there. We just realized the sun is directly overhead and that it is hot once we were out of the shade.

The Naga Shrine is situated just across from Adiyogi. In front of the shrine, we observed people doing breath work exercises and practicing meditation. If you are into mediation this place is a perfect spot for you. 

Given that we weren't really hungry, we just drank some of the free mineral water that was available and were ready to leave. There are stalls where you may purchase meals. 

We took a few pictures next to the quarry on the way back and passed several fields where flowers were being gathered. We began our journey back home after KP went for their grandparents' home near the highway. We passed nandi hills circle and were too thirsty but the water we had got with us was over, we took a quick pitstop at Hotel Nandagokula for buttermilk and moved towards home.
